Sunshiny Days: Tie-Dye Wipes and Sunscreen Tips

Make tie-dye inspired from July 4th festivities with this activity!
The Scribble

Tie-dye can be simple, fun, and for all ages! Try this easy craft to create summer decorations inspired by the colorful Fourth of July fireworks from earlier this week.

Materials

  • Baby wipes
  • Rubber bands
  • Washable markers
  • Paper towels

Instructions

  1. Pinch the center of a baby wipe and hold it in your hand, then twist it. Wrap three rubber bands around the wipe to create four little sections.
  2. Have your child color the sections with markers. Get as much color into the folds as they can!
  3. Remove the rubber bands and carefully unfold the wipes. Place them on top of paper towels to let them dry completely.
  4. Take pictures for your Qeepsake journal and make this an annual tradition!

Summer means SPF! Here are some tips for making it a simple part of your routine.

0-12 Month-Olds: Sunscreen is only safe after 6 months, so covering up is key in the early days. When you’re ready to start, go with a broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher.

12-24 Month-Olds: If you’ve got a wiggler, try applying sunscreen to their face while they’re strapped into their car seat.

24+ Month-Olds: To get your kiddo involved, pick a “sunscreen song” and play it every time you apply. It’s time to get in the (safe sun) groove!
