Summer is in full swing!

Today’s craft is a great way to get your kids engaged in sensory play, with very little prep.  Plus, it’s perfect for those days when it’s too hot to play outside.

Summer Sensory Bin

Materials

  • Storage bin or large bowl
  • Dry pasta or rice
  • Kitchen utensils, like measuring cups and funnels
  • Small plastic toys

Instructions

  1. Lay out a big sheet or towel in your play area. This will contain the mess and make cleanup easier!
  2. Create your sensory bin. Fill it with the rice or pasta, then add in the utensils and toys. If you’d like, you can make your bin themed (like dinosaur-themed or beach-themed), or just use whatever you have on hand.
  3. You’re ready to play! Let your kiddos have fun using their imagination.
  4. Snap pictures of your kiddos focused on the task at hand — it’s so fun to see them dig in!
Sensing Summer

There’s so much to feel this time of year! Here are ideas for helping your littles heighten their senses this season.

0-12 Month-Olds: Whenever you’re near water, whether a kiddie pool or the ocean, carefully hold your baby and dip their toes in.

12-24 Month-Olds: It’s time for bubbles! Use a simple bubble blower or a bubble gun and watch your little have fun popping them.

24+ Month-Olds: Sidewalk chalk is just right for this age. See what your kiddo creates on the pavement!
